Not even the best could escape. The crisis has, at first slowly, and then dramatically marked the year 2008, and the best 500 companies rankings by value added last year, which is published by Lider in cooperation with Poslovna.hr discloses the growth slowdown of best companies, at the very least.
After 2007, in which the slowdown in growth was contributed to larger investments which fruits were yet to be plucked in this and the following years, an unexpected strike of the global crisis has stopped the good ones and put those with a large financial burden in a very dubious situation.
Best 500 companies in Croatia in 2008 recorded a total of € 9.1 billion of value added which is a 2.2% increase compared to a previous year. However, this growth is a lot lower than 9.8% recorded by the best 500 a year before compared to 2006.
The most positive indicator last year was productivity which marked a 5.8% increase while the number of employees decreased by 4.3% (to 271,871), which influenced the productivity growth.
In light of global economic atmosphere, total revenue of best 500 companies decreased by 3.4% to HRK 39.7 million as well as profits by 2.9% to a total of HRK 2.9 billion.
