With the world economy still in such a fragile state, stress levels continue to rise as employees are faced with the prospect of redundancies, pay cuts and the cancellation of bonuses. Company leaders and employees work longer hours and forgo their fitness regime in an attempt to rebuild and remodel a company to keep it in the black. However, if you make the decision to offer up your fitness routine as the sacrificial lamb to save on finance, you do so at your peril. Health is your most valuable asset. A lack of exercise can lead to a gradual increase in body fat and, as fat stores toxins, it increases your risk to other dangerous health problems such as cardiovascular disease and cancers.

Now is not the time to rest, whether you are employed or not. Now is the time to get ready for action, and improve your physical and mental capabilities. There is nothing more important than keeping the balance of mind, body and spirit. For the sake of your health and strength, nothing beats exercise. Exercise has been proven to reduce stress and improve energy levels. It also helps you be more productive and it fosters creativity. You may claim you are too busy to exercise, but this is not a valid excuse anymore. Now you can workout at work.

It is hard to find time to exercise, especially for those of us who work in an office. Exercising at work may seem impossible, but it is one option for staying fit and keeping your energy up. All it takes is a little planning and some inspiration to squeeze in a little movement all day long. You probably know a few tricks for staying active at work. Taking the stairs when you can, parking further away from the door and walking around the office when you can are good places to start.

Beyond that, there are a few other options to keep you moving: sit on an exercise ball instead of a chair. This will strengthen your abs and back and you will work on your posture without even trying. If you have your own office, consider keeping a resistance band, ankle weights and even a couple of sets of dumbbells in your desk drawer. You can squeeze in some quick upper body exercises while you are on the phone. If you work in a cubicle or do not want people to see you exercising at your desk, all you really need is a chair and a couple of large, full water bottles you can use for any dumbbell exercise.
